Daniel Clarry has a general commercial practice with expertise in commercial trust disputes and applications by trustees for judicial advice.

Daniel’s recent cases include acting in complex litigation concerning debts owed by the Presbyterian Church of Queensland (incorporated under the Religious Educational and Charitable Institutions Act 1861 (Qld), receivers and managers appointed, Attorney-General for the State of Queensland intervening), and a trial concerning whether fiduciary duties were owed in the context of a commercial joint venture for the development of a large residential estate.

Daniel has completed doctoral research at the University of Cambridge, receiving a PhD in Law in 2015, and has published widely on equity and trusts, including a monograph titled The Supervisory Jurisdiction over Trust Administration (Oxford University Press (OUP) 2018) and chapters in edited collections, including Arbitration of Trust Disputes (OUP 2016), The Oxford Handbook of Fiduciary Law (OUP 2019) and The Oxford Handbook of Comparative Trust Law (OUP 2025 (forthcoming)). Daniel’s publications have been cited by courts throughout Australia and internationally.
